3. Novo Energy pauses operations, lays off entire workforce.
Volvo Cars has paused operations at its battery subsidiary Novo Energy while continuing its search for an external technology partner.
The automaker said its plan to produce EV batteries in the Gothenburg region remains unchanged, but the project cannot move forward without a suitable partner.
Until one is secured, Novo Energy will not operate as planned. All 75 employees have been laid off, and relevant unions and authorities have been notified.
Volvo Cars said the decision was difficult but necessary. No timeline has been given for when battery production may resume.
